Completing a bachelor’s degree opens doors in your nursing career. Holding a BSN leads to career advancement opportunities that include higher earning potential and the ability to work in leadership roles in healthcare settings. In some areas of the United States, nurses with a BSN receive hiring preference over nurses with an associate’s degree.
The requirements to enroll in the RN to BSN program depend on the student’s individual circumstance. Nurses with an associate’s degree from a regionally and nationally accredited nursing school are welcome to enroll during any spring, summer, or fall term. Students who are in the final two semesters of their prelicensure nursing program may enroll in the RN to BSN program to get a head start on their bachelor’s degree while still working toward their associate’s degree in nursing.
Nurses across the United States are bound by the Nurse Practice Act in the state where they practice. However, the credentials earned by completing the RN to BSN program are universal. Your BSN will be recognized anywhere you choose to practice within the United States.
