Online course and program development

Nevada Online’s team of instructional designers, instructional technologists, multimedia analysts and video production specialist work with faculty to create high-quality online classes that encompass best practices for online learning, contain necessary elements to maintain academic integrity, and fulfill accreditation requirements. The design team works with faculty on a one-on-one basis to develop engaging, rigorous courses that meet the University’s Standards for Digital Instruction.

Online courses are created by three-person design teams, which include the faculty course developer, an instructional designer, and an instructional technologist. The instructional designer and instructional technologist will be assigned to your design team by Nevada Online, and will provide support and guidance through the course development process.

The online course development process

The course development process falls into seven (7) steps, including the following:

  • Step 1. Faculty member completes course development training
  • Step 2. Faculty member provides course material
  • Step 3. Instructional Designer provides feedback and suggestions
  • Step 4. Ongoing collaboration, discussion and planning
  • Step 5. Instructional Technologist builds course in WebCampus
  • Step 6. Faculty member reviews and provides feedback on course
  • Step 7. Course complete
